GRI R&D ENGINEERING, S.L. is developing the HIADA4WIND project, whose objective is to develop and validate an intelligent digital tool to optimize surface treatment processes in wind tower manufacturing.
The project combines artificial intelligence technologies, advanced sensing, machine vision and numerical simulation to improve the control and traceability of coating application processes, anticipate potential defects and optimize energy consumption.
The main expected results include improving the quality and durability of coatings, reducing defects and rework, optimizing energy resources, and developing a digital platform to support technical decision-making through real-time data analysis.
The solution developed will be validated under real manufacturing conditions at the GRI Towers Sevilla plant, with the aim of demonstrating its industrial applicability and its potential for implementation at other production facilities.
European funding
The HIADA4WIND project, file no. 2025/0325/00284046, has been awarded funding by Red.es under the 2025 call for grants for research and development projects in artificial intelligence and other dual-use technologies and their integration into value chains (C003/25-ED). This grant is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the framework of the ERDF Multi-Regional Programme for Spain 2021–2027.
