R&D&i Projects


Flangeroute


The Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, in the framework of the program “Retos-Colaboración 2015” of the National Plan of Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016, financed by FEDER funds from the European Union, has agreed to provide a three-year grant to the consortium formed by Forjas Irajeta Heavy Industries (leader), Gonvarri Eólica and the research institutions Lortek and Azterlán for the development of the project FLANGEROUTE.

FLANGEROUTE is a project which consists in promoting the technological development, innovation and quality research, based on the research and development of new manufacturing techniques for large flanges (onshore & offshore).

The aim of this project is to develop new manufacturing techniques capable of optimizing the costs and time associated to product manufacturing in Forjas Iraeta plant, making use of advanced technologies, as flashwelding, and doing research on new input materials. The lower product costs will improve their competitiveness, and this will allow the plant to obtain a competitive advantage in the manufacturing of large-wind tower components, such as those belonging to the off-shore market.

Brisa


The Department of Economic Development and Infrastructure of the Basque Government, within the framework of the Business R & D Support Program HAZITEK, co-financed by the European Union FEDER funds, has granted financing to Forjas Iraeta Heavy Industry,S.L. for the execution of BRISA project.

The main objective of this project is the development of large section wind flanges (up to 80,000 mm) for wind towers with heights greater than 100 meters, using Advanced Welding Technologies (TWIN-MAG). The development of these new flanges, through union technologies not applied to date, is a novelty within the sector, at the same time; it represents an important change in the products already consolidated in the market.

Flasheo


The Department of Economic Development and Infrastructure of the Basque Government, within the framework of the Business R & D Support Program HAZITEK, co-financed by the European Union FEDER funds, has granted financing to Forjas Iraeta Heavy Industry,S.L. for the execution of FLASHEO project.

The main objective of this project is the development of wind flanges with sections up to 45,000 mm2 for the wind sector, manufactured by cold forging and FBW welding, which meet the conditions of quality, competitiveness, reliability and repeatability that the sector demands for a mass production.

BRIDA 0.0


The Department of Economic Development and Infrastructure of the Basque Government, within the framework of the Business R & D Support Program HAZITEK, co-financed by the European Union FEDER funds, has granted financing to FIHI FORGING INDUSTRY S.L.U.for the execution of BRIDA 0.0. project.

The main objective of the project is to develop flanges for large wind towers (between 50,000 and 80,000 mm2) with zero defects, which present a 60% reduction in production costs through the development of advanced bevels, 2 mm wire and double-wire MIG MAG technologies.
