HIGHCONTOW

The overall objective of this project is to develop a new concept of an onshore concrete tower solution for the support of state-of-the-art wind turbines.

The technological leap of this new solution proposed by the project can be materialized in obtaining a competitive prefabricated concrete tower for heights greater than 140m., in addition to integrating the development of a foundation that reduces material needs as much as possible and transmits great forces to the ground of this type of large towers.

All this, developing new horizontal joints and studying the interaction between the different structural elements, to eliminate the presence of steel transition sections as much as possible. The Centre funds this innovative project for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) within the “EEA Grants” programme, which represents the contribution of Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein to reduce economic and social disparities in Europe.
