GRI AND THE POLISH INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY, ARP, HELD THE SYMBOLIC GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW OFFSHORE WIND TOWER FACTORY IN POLAND

Madrid, September 8, 2023 – GRI Renewable Industries a global leading manufacturer of wind turbine components (GRI) and the Polish Industrial Development Agency, ARP, celebrated the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new offshore wind tower factory in the city of Gdansk, Poland.

The estimated value of this investment is more than 200 million euros, and production is expected to start in the second quarter of 2025, creating more than 400 jobs.

The planned investment will address the growing demand for wind towers and the dynamic development of the offshore wind energy market in Poland and the rest of Europe, which will significantly increase GRI’s share in the supply chain of offshore wind farm construction in the Baltic Sea.

As part of the investment, located on the island of Ostrów in Gdansk with direct access to the mooring quay, an offshore tower production hall will be built with the capacity to manufacture towers for the planned largest wind turbines with a capacity of more than 15 MW. This modern production facility, designed and built according to Industry 4.0 standards, will have the capacity to manufacture more than 200 offshore towers per year.

At this event Jon Riberas, Executive Chairman of GRI Renewable Industries, stated, “GRI is very proud to participate in this important wind energy project in Poland towards sustainability and carbon neutrality. This joint venture in Poland will be one of the world leaders in the offshore market that will contribute to achieving the ambitious targets for installed renewable energy in the next decade.”
